Jasmine studied Art and Design, Business, and Media at college. Whilst at college, she completed two weeks work experience with a local company which she enjoyed and this helped her decide that she didn’t want to go to university, but that she wanted a career where she could be creative.
After finishing college, Jasmine started an apprenticeship. She started her apprenticeship at a local company where she worked as a Junior Marketing Assistant. In the role she learnt how to use Adobe Photoshop and InDesign and a Content Management System. After finishing her apprenticeship she applied for the Senior Marketing Executive position with Webexpenses and joined us in February 2021.
In April 2022, Jasmine was promoted to Growth Marketing Manager. With this progression came the mentoring of new members of the team, being involved in the interview process and preparing their induction training.
‘Career progression is good at Webexpenses. I have progressed from a Senior Marketing Executive to a Growth Marketing Manager role which has line manager responsibilities. In each of my roles I have learned lots of new things.’
In her role at Webexpenses Jasmine supports the outbound and partner marketing channels and has some involvement with the inbound channel. She works closely with the Customer Success team to work on the marketing strategy and takes the lead on planning and idea generation. She also supports the Sales team by ensuring they have an efficient process to sell to customers and have different ways in which they can sell the product. Producing reports to help make sure the Sales team reach their monthly and quarterly targets is also a key aspect of her role.
Jasmine is now an experienced member of the Marketing team and has gained excellent knowledge on our Customer Relationship Management System which means she's always able to help her colleagues with any queries as well as helping them to upskill and learn how to use different marketing tools.
In 2022 Jasmine spoke to her manager about her aspirations and a desire to gain a professional marketing qualification. We sponsored her to study her CIM (Chartered Institutes of Marketing) Level 6 Qualification which has helped her with her progression. She completed her studies alongside her day job and utilising the monthly learning days that we offer everyone. In the summer of 2023 she completed her studies and attended her graduation ceremony in London. ‘Completing my CIM was a challenge but a huge accomplishment. It tested me and the end result was definitely worth it. I’ve been able to benefit from learning the theory and putting it into practice at Webexpenses'.
‘It’s rewarding and you get exposure to other parts of the business, you get to work with other people in different teams. I enjoy the ability to learn new things and the training opportunities which are offered. You get to work with fun people and make friendships inside work.’
In fact, she has recommended Webexpenses as a good place to work via our Recommend a Friend Scheme; her friend was successful in their application and joined the business which resulted in Jasmine receiving a payment for us for making the recommendation.
Based on her experience, we asked Jasmine if she had any advice to give to candidates considering starting their career in Marketing. Jasmine said, ‘Be prepared to learn, you need to be adaptable to change, keep on top of new trends and always bring your ideas to the table’.
